Project Background
When was the last time you drank a glass of water? Water is an important substance that covers about 71% of the earth's surface. We depend on the oceans to maintain our rainwater systems and many populations rely on water for food and income. Oceans also absorb carbon dioxide and produce more than half of the oxygen we breathe. But despite its importance, the ocean is under threat. Therefore, for this project my goal was to promote ocean conservation, which is the protection, and preservation of ecosystems in oceans and seas. In addition to researching the current threats, the ocean faced it was also important to research the ways in which people enjoy and interact with water. The motivation behind this was to make the advertisement relatable to potential viewers in order to spark motivation to support this cause. These findings lead me to develop "Off the Hook" a concept that displays an alternate future with a heavily polluted ocean and nonexistent marine life as a result. The softwares used for this project were Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

What I learned
This project was done as a guerilla advertisement design and it challenged me to concentrate on designing impactful installations that raised awareness to ocean conservation. Designing the advertisements for “Off the Hook” also taught me the importance of creating advertisements designs that people can relate to for maximum effect.
