Messaging Platform Experience

uCast is a podcast advertising platform that helps podcasters monetize their content while enabling small businesses to advertise their products and services. Since many podcasters struggle to generate revenue and small businesses often have limited access to advertising opportunities, uCast connects both groups through a shared platform. During my time at uCast, I contributed to the design of the uCast Messenger, a feature created to support communication and collaboration between advertisers and podcasters while maintaining a professional user experience.

Challenge

One of the key challenges was designing a messaging system that allowed advertisers and podcasters to communicate effectively while respecting the platform's business rules. A major constraint was that advertisers could not directly message a podcaster until an advertising offer had been sent and accepted. The messaging experience therefore needed to support collaboration without compromising the professional environment that uCast wanted to create.

Objective

The goal of this project was to design a messaging experience that enables advertisers and podcasters to communicate efficiently while supporting the workflow of advertising campaigns. By understanding the needs of both user groups, the objective was to create an intuitive messaging system that respected platform constraints, improved collaboration, and provided users with the tools needed to manage conversations throughout the advertising process.

Results

The final solution introduced the uCast Messenger, a messaging system designed specifically for communication between advertisers and podcasters after an offer has been accepted. The experience allows advertisers to manage offers by editing, resending, canceling, or archiving conversations while providing podcasters with a structured workflow for accepting or declining collaboration requests. An additional "Find Best Match" feature was also introduced to help advertisers connect with more suitable podcast partners after a declined offer. To further support users, the platform included a dedicated Help Center that provides self-service resources and direct access to the uCast team when additional assistance is needed.
