Benefits Onboarding

Enterprise Product Design

This project focused on improving the onboarding experience of an insurance benefits enrollment platform. As part of the engagement, our team worked to identify usability issues within the existing product and develop design recommendations that would improve the experience for users managing their insurance benefits online. During the project, I contributed throughout both the discovery and design phases by conducting UX research, synthesizing insights, and designing solutions that supported a more intuitive and user-centered onboarding experience.

Challenge

The existing onboarding experience presented opportunities to improve usability, information clarity, and the overall enrollment journey. Users needed a clearer and more intuitive experience when navigating health benefits and budgeting tools, while the client sought actionable design recommendations supported by research. The challenge was to identify pain points throughout the experience and translate research findings into practical design solutions that balanced user needs with business objectives.

Objective

The goal of this project was to improve the insurance benefits onboarding experience by identifying usability issues and designing solutions that simplified the enrollment process. Through UX research, competitive analysis, and high-fidelity design, the objective was to create a more intuitive experience that improved navigation, strengthened message clarity, and supported users in making informed decisions about their benefits.

Results

The final solution introduced a series of design improvements that enhanced the onboarding experience for users enrolling in insurance benefits. The redesigned budgeting and health benefits pages provided clearer messaging, improved navigation, and a more structured user flow, helping users better understand their available options throughout the enrollment process.
